You can during the week but it is a special request. On the weekends, it is a 5 course prix fixed tea with a very nice assortment of food. No exceptions. Forgive me if you don't understand the reference but "go ahead and split, Mr. amoeba man". I really hope, you are Elizabeth Ziff...otherwise, that was embarrassing ;)
No, their tea was not for sale outside the salon. (I actually ask the first time I was there). However, since they're connected to the Inn, perhaps that can change if you're staying at the Inn. Best to ask them directly.
Not too sure but the are very accommodating so if you ask I'm pretty sure they will be able to
They can accommodate dietary requests when you make your reservation.
Yes, they do, you can host an event there.
hands down the best coffee on earth. literally all other coffee is mediocore in comparison. plus all the cool coffee makers from japan are super dope.
A gem in New York, NY. You have to get the croque madame with the kale salad.
Loved our high tea here! The location is very quaint and cozy, you’re seated very comfortably and there aren’t too many other tables. The staff was attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and you could get a second round of sandwiches! I would recommend making a reservation before 3:30PM, that way you can take your time to enjoy the whole menu.
Great setting but stingy portions. Very expensive. Food not very good. There are better places for afternoon tea. Service was not great- wait staff a bit rude to children.
Highly recommend coming here for high tea! The service is phenomenal and such a delight. The place is very elegant and makes you feel of high royalty. Would recommend for a girls day or a celebration. The courses of bites are just the right amount and very satisfying! Love this place! Keep up the great work!
Everything was perfect. Atmosphere was classical and vintage, tea pots and all kind of plates were very detailed. Foods and teas were also good.
Is the cake yum? Definitely it’s Lady M
I was looking forward to visiting and trying Lady Mendl's based on a family member's recommendation and my love of tea venues. Unfortunately it was a huge letdown from slow service that stopped as we were given the check, which happened sooner than other guests who got there after us. We had to ask for refills. They do not even give you your own pot of tea. The food looked better than it tasted and was like the experience over all, disappointing. I have had tea at many places around the city ranging from the Plaza Hotel to Alice's. Considering Alice's is half the price and twice as good I would not recommend Lady Mendl's and I don't get all of the great reviews, maybe they got a different menu/server.
This is the fanciest place to have afternoon tea in NYC. The tea salon is decorated in Victorian style so you feel like you're in that era. The service is very attentive and courteous. I really like their tea selection and tea sandwiches. The cookies and scones were unmemorable. I did like that they had a slice of Lady M crepe cake at the end. Remember to make reservations in advance since it gets full fast.
Love this tea room. If you have a sweet tooth then you will definitely be a big fan too. The tea sandwiches were creative and yummy but most of the other items are sweets... Which I didn't mind given we were there for that sort of thing. Wonderful service as well. Many teas to choose from - as you would expect.
A little dissapointed. The atmosphere is beautiful. The food was average. However, you feel kind of rushed through each course. This shouldn't be, especially paying $59 for scones, small finger sandwhiches, and tea. It made it difficult to enjoy the experience. A little too pricey for what is served, as well.
Lovely spot for high tea. The tea was great, food was tasty and the host was very friendly and helpful. The decor and atmosphere is perfect for a gathering.
Tea service was good but not as good as I would expect for such a vintage place. Great atmosphere however! The afternoon tea was not tiered.
Such a wonderful experience at this eclectic tea salon. The decor, service, and meal was top notch! Immediately upon arrival you are greeted by a wonderful lady at the lobby area, a gentleman then offers to take your coat. While I waited I asked a few questions about the hotel(yes they are hotel too!) Everyone was gracious and even offered me a tour of the property after tea. Within a couple of minutes of sitting in the beautiful lobby an elegant gentleman enters to escort you personally to table. The sweetness spreads from the staff to the desserts and back again. Will come back very often!!! This is THE place to go!
Had a company event here and it's the fever dream of Alice in wonderland meets Marie Antoinette. The tea is 'tastea'. Heh see what I did there?
Delicious, cozy and very homey styling.
They also sell all the ingredients you need to cook authentic Ethiopian food if you love cooking; I am. If you are interested in collecting some cultural items, it is part of their offer check the pictures I posted. They value good customer service. You will be welcomed with smile.
Cute tea place! Amazing teas and nice vibes. Good service. Took down a star because there was barely anything to eat and tea was small portions. Overall cute place with yummy teas.
One of my favorite places for afternoon tea in New York City. I enjoy how it is treated as four distinctive courses and brought a new plate each time. (soup, sandwiches, scone then dessert) It elevates the tea experience to an enjoyable formal level but without feeling pretentious. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. We always make sure to stop here when we're in the city. Tea sandwiches are amazing and unique. Scones are large and tasty, but nothing special. Jam and clotted cream were of very good quality. Desserts were tasty too but not spectacular. Worth the trip for atmosphere and sandwiches!
Closed more often than not for private events. Rare to actually find reservations open. Recommend skipping here and making a 24 hour ahead time reservation and going to JanAm Tea service or just walking into Cha-An japanese tea house. Really wanted to give Lady Mendl's a try!
Lovely afternoon tea. Plenty of tasty munchies and the soup course was an unexpected bonus. We left sated and quite pleased with our afternoon high tea experience
Perfect experience in every way. What a special place! Delicious and gorgeous!
great sandwiches.. and you can get more of them on demand.. teas are not impressive .. note that you have to get 65$ 5 course meal to try all their teas aka no al a-cart. Teas isn't the focal point if you are looking for having gourmet teas.. but its the ambiance and company! Go here hungry and to spend some sometime.. our server was just almost adequately adding to the experience so all stars go for sandwiches, 12 layer cake at the end and ambiance. btw scones could be better and moist and not dry and crummy...
We enjoyed the experience. We will definitely be back
Just Superb. The staff was attentive and the food great. I have a dairy allergy and they were able to provide a pure vegan course for an extra $10 (you must notify ahead if your visit if you have dietary restrictions). They have a curated selection of teas and can either pair them with the pre-fixe or you can switch them as you go. Finding the entrance can be a bit tough it's just a townhouse with a plaque of a tea cup near the door. Go here and have a great afternoon. It's worth the price tag.
Obsessed. The espresso is clean. The iced Americana or cold brew has frozen coffee ice cubes. And they even have organic coconut water.
I loved having tea here. The service was warm and not stuffy. Servers were attentive and generous. The food and tea were absolutely delicious. I almost opted against for the tea pairing, but I'm so glad I chose to try it. Each tea paired perfectly with the course of food with which it was served.
It's definitely bougie, but it was delicious.
Had a wonderful time here.
Lavish, luscious, lengthy high tea with exemplary service, with beautiful ambiance. Highly recommended. They will accommodate food allergies, too.
Loved the tea service here. The waiters as very attentive and the food very delicious. The atmosphere is very cosy. I would come back again.
Beautiful atmosphere great service!
This Lady Mendl's Tea Salon is really good, it has a really nice creamy texture to it. Wish we had more branches from these coffee shops... the coffee gets my 5 star.....not cheap but worth it.
I am satisfied with food, tea and overall service even it is little pricier and come w small selection of tea, however, I was definatly not expected to be so rushed. After 1hr, we were still working on our 2nd courses, than our server told us that they kind of have a time limit about 1:30min(cannot find anywhere on website) and want us to speed up for next course for next reservation. And they stopped us unwrapping gifts for my friends b day. I never had an experience to be so rushed from any hi-tea place for 'afternoon tea time'. That part was not enjoyable at all and made me feel this place is 'overpriced'. Other than this, everything was good but I dont think I'll visit again or recomand to others.
It was a lovely afternoon with lovely ladies!
This place transports you to a different era. The selection of teas are really interesting and pastry's are really good.
Terrific High Tea! Cozy, sophisticated atmosphere, portion sizes spot on, flavor profiles are clean and delicious. Only little issue, wish there was a wider tea selection.
The decor is wonderful and the background music was delightful classic jazz. If you want to feel like having tea in a romantic Victorian setting, this is the place for you! (A bit pricy, but a great experience if you enjoy high tea.)
First off, I'll agree with a previous reviewer that there have definitely been some cost-cutting measures taken at Lady Mendl's. However, it still offers a very intimate and cozy afternoon tea experience. The space is beautiful: exactly what you would imagine a Victorian tea parlor to be. The tea service is a five-course affair and there is still plenty of food, but it's really not a gourmet destination. Come here for the ambiance. It's a great space for a bridal shower or an afternoon with the girls - get dolled up and enjoy a quiet afternoon of tea and desserts.
It's something nice to try if you want to try a different experience
the taste of the tea was just awesome!!! highly recommend this place
pricey but it's worth it because of how beautiful this place is! You should try rooibos tea if you visit here. it tastes amazing! They don't rush you to leave, so it's perfect to have a long chat with friends. I took 1 star off because we didn't like the food very much. they were ok
Best tea time we have found yet in NYC
New to the neighborhood and stumbled across Coffee Shop! So thrilled I did. Haven't found oat milk anywhere else in the city yet. Had a fantastic iced latte with the famous coffee cubes and this "devil inside" breakfast muffin/quiche hybrid. What a treat!
Hosts here are really nice! Ask to be seated in the main room. The tea and food was delicious and the atmosphere so relaxing. Great place to bring friends and or a nice date.
Awesome afternoon tea. Attentive service, delicious & filling menu. Something different that makes you feel special!
Very cute tea service - the teas are lovely and the food is actually good! The sandwiches and the scones are quite delicious, and the tea pairings are spot on. The decor is very cute and our server was a bit rushed but definitely attentive. Definitely worth the high price.
When you visit nyc, wanna explore a chill, deluxe and formal afternoon tea gathering with friends, I will recommend Lady M Tea salon with no doubt. The enviroment there is elegant, marverous and unique. Very lovely place for friends gatbering. All dessert there is of course from lady M brand, all delicious. A full afternoon set they will offer you the rack with 3 trays of pastries, sandwiches and desserts selections. After that, you can still ask for one more tray from any kind, which is included. It worths to pay a little bit more for enjoying this memorable moment.
Totally horrible experience! Their stuff are not trained well. We made a reservation and changed to later time, but their system had a problem that it didn't show our reservation changed. We waited for more than 50 mins to be seated. While waiting, we had been constantly offended by them explaining that it was not their fault for many times. Horrible attitude. Bad experience
I booked the place a month ago during holiday season to celebrate wedding anniversary. We arrived in time for our reservations but due to many people already seated had to wait ten to fifteen minutes. In the five course meal, we fell in love with first course of salad and second course of sandwiches. The sandwiches were top notch. The final course of dessert was marvelous and although we were full we dint want waste it. My husband is getting into tea and I wanted him to get good taste of varieties of Tea. Among 5 teas we liked 3 of them very much and not delighted with other two. They were also not quiet hot as expected. Service was moderate due to rush hour. There were times we sat without tea or food. Would recommend the place was tea salon.
